Hi, I'm Kristi!
I learned the hard way that our food, lifestyle choices and mindset are absolutely crucial to our health.
But along with this lesson, I learned the amazingly empowering truth that we get to decide--with the choices we make every single day--the life we want to live.
My first career was as an attorney. while I was in law school and For several years after I graduated and began practicing law,
I neglected my own wellbeing as I burned the candle at both ends to serve my clients and grow my practice.
I was thin, I worked out, and I would have said I was healthy. But I was sleeping 4-5 hours/night and living on a Standard American Diet of processed foods and Diet Coke to keep me going. And I was struggling with I didn’t even realize at the time was generalized anxiety and the beginnings of some autoimmunity.
In 2006 when my husband and I were ready to start a family, I went through four miscarriages and was diagnosed with “possible” PCOS, an endocrine disorder I met some of the criteria for but not all. Through a lot of research and prayer, I came to realize the underlying problem was pretty simple: I wasn’t providing myself with the nourishment I needed for my own body to be healthy and function the way God intended, much less sustain a pregnancy and grow another healthy little life.
The miscarriages were just the first warning sign my body was unhealthy and out of balance. And they were exactly the wake-up call I needed.
We began moving to a real, whole food eating plan and in November 2007 we were blessed with the birth of OUR triplets.
Seven years later I had dramatically changed my food choices and started doing yoga several times a week.
I felt better and was healthier than I have ever been, even as a college athlete. A wonderful surprise pregnancy and the birth of our youngest daughter confirmed I was on the right track and my body was getting back in balance.
During that same period of time I had another big wake up call.
In 2010, one of my dearest friends–a young mom with two beautiful little girls–was diagnosed with stage IV cancer and passed away a year later.
After she was told by some of the best oncologists in the country she probably only had a year to live, we began researching food choices and holistic cancer treatment options.
and I became even more convinced of the enormous impact our food and lifestyle choices make on our health.
Cancer prevention and holistic alternative and complimentary cancer treatment options have become one of my passions.
Through the exact same functional approach I apply in working with all of my clients, I have also been able to overcome my life-long struggle with anxiety, resolve autoimmunity (fatigue, pain, swelling, bruising & crazy skin issues) and completely resolve my son’s “idiopathic” IBS and failure to thrive (after 5 different pediatric specialists threw their hands up in the air and told us we were just going to have to learn to live with it and manage the symptoms).
through all of this I learned one incredibly important truth:
You have the power to change your health and your life.
Never doubt it for Even a minute.
My goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools you need to be completely, fully well in every area–physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually…
so you can feel amazing, BE YOUR BEST FOR YOURSELF AND ALL THOSE YOU LOVE and REALLY live the energized, Vibrant, joy-filled life you want to liVE!
A Bit more about my Qualifications and coaching methods:
I have been studying holistic health and wellness for 15+ years now and have been blessed to see dozens and dozens of clients transform their health.
What started as a necessity to resolve my own health challenges became a passion that has allowed me to help clients all over the us change their health and life as well.
I’m an Applied Functional Medicine Coach certified through the School of Applied Functional Medicine. This is a 3 year, masters degree level program that incorporates 2 years of intense study of the human body and disease dynamics, case studies, clinical experience and mentorship. I’m also a graduate of the Institute for Functional Health Coaching and the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. In addition to these certifications, I have trained in advanced functional labs with healthy aging expert Dr. Alan Hopkins, extensive training on Hormone Health for Mid-Life Women and the DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Complete Hormones) with women’s hormone expert Maria Claps. I have also studied stress, anxiety, trauma and other aspects of mind-body wellness extensively.
As a functional wellness coach, I believe the body is an integrated whole. My goal is to get to the underlying cause of health complaints and address them at the root level, rather than just masking symptoms with medications. I do this by helping my client’s address the fundamentals of wellness every single person needs to have optimized in order to get their body back into a balanced, healthy state AND by asking the right questions, looking at all of their lab data from a functional perspective and digging deeper into their individual needs with in depth functional testing where needed.
In addition to optimizing the health of our physical body, I also believe the body, mind and spirit are an integrated whole and that each aspect of our being impacts the others. We must address the physical, mental, emotional and energetic in order to relieve health complaints, age well and live the vibrant, joy-filled life we all dream of.
